I’m growing into–and in some cases out-growing–my current website theme. I found some good plugins for some of my personal data in the “About Me” page, and in some cases wrote my own code in order to display my media content.
I figured out how to filter (using the query_() function) blog posts of a specific category from the main blog page. I couldn’t find a good captcha function for my contact form so I decided to let that one go for the time being.
I now have to find a way to create sub-pages that do not auto-display in the menu. I’d like my “favorites” page, for example, to be have the “Photos” page as its parent, but I don’t want the word “favorites” to be added to the overall menu. Right now, given my current menu php, any new page created gets its own menu representation. I’m hoping there’s a quick way I can alter my php for the menu in order to change that function.
I love the lightwindow 2 plugin for wordpress. It’s really easy to implement and provides a professional element to the page. I hope I can utilize it more when I figure out how to display my favorite photos sub-page.
Things are moving along, but I think I may need to write my own theme soon, now that I’ve gotten the hang of this. Perhaps I’ll upgrade to 2.9.2 and implement a new theme in another week or so.
